I got my first camera at 13. I took a picture of a sunset and the rest is history.
Shamelessly, I broke it when I was trying to take a selfie & it fell face-first on its lens. I was too ashamed to tell my mom (I told her I lost it), so I saved up my lunch money to buy a new one.
A few years later, I got my first DSLR.
Since then, I’ve somehow known exactly what to do while simultaneously having no idea what I’m doing. And I really love to embrace that.
I’ve snuck into fashion shows and concerts, pestered photographers just to be their assistant, and taken my camera while treading through waist-high water — all while thinking I didn’t have what it took to do it for a living.
These days, I shoot for leisure. Sometimes I take a nice picture, and post it on this website.
I would describe my style of shooting as “photo-documentary'“. I believe any mundane moment can be captured & be given a story, strictly by what elements you do/do not allow in the frame.
What’s more, is that there are so few '“controls”. You cannot control your subjects or your lighting. Instead, it’s a russian roulette. You might get the shot, you might not.
